Week 6 - AVATAR

For a story to have a hero, there must be: 

1. Obstacles that hold the hero back

2. Challenge he or she faces is made clear to them and they know what they must do

3. The hero fights against the obstacles

4. The hero picks himself or herself up after wondering whether he is capable and the right person for the task

5. Hero fights back

6. Hero wins

For each of these stages of a hero story, write whether you believe each one happens (in this order) in Avatar.  This might be hard for some of you so you may want to pick out three of the six to write about.  (Terry, Salvo, Greg, Jack, Jayden, Rachel - could you all try all six for me please!) 

Week 5 - AVATAR

Some students have suggested that Jake Sully is not a hero because he betrayed his own kind.  Why did Jake betray the humans?  Can you be a hero but not agree with one group of people, or the way they do things?  Discuss this in at least 50 words. 

Week 2 - Post 2 AVATAR

Was there a hero in the movie Avatar?  Was there one hero or more than one?  Name the hero /s.

Week 4 - Post 1 AVATAR

What qualities does a hero have?  Can you think of someone you think is a hero and explain why you would call them this?
